Skill Development & Capacity Building
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) stands as the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The primary objective of this skill certification scheme is to empower a substantial number of Indian youths to undergo industry-relevant skill training, enhancing their prospects for a better livelihood. Individuals with prior learning experience or skills are also eligible for assessment and certification under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) component. It's noteworthy that, under this scheme, the government fully covers the training and assessment fees.
Short-term training offered at PMKVY Training Centers (TCs) is designed to benefit Indian candidates, specifically school/college dropouts or unemployed individuals. In addition to adhering to the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), TCs also provide instruction in Soft Skills, Entrepreneurship, Financial, and Digital Literacy. The training duration varies based on the job role, ranging from 150 to 300 hours. Upon successful assessment completion, candidates receive placement assistance from Training Partners (TPs). Notably, under PMKVY, the government covers the entire training and assessment fees.
